DO TRY THIS AT HOME: GILLIGAN'S WATERMELON MARGARITA
Spring is winding down, and here at Soho Grand, that means many things – the birds are singing, the bikes are out, the hotel’s dog park is in full swing, Gilligan’s is open for business – and the watermelon margarita is back.
A neighborhood favorite during the warmer months, this frozen cocktail is hard to resist. Thanks to Jeremy Oertel, the mastermind behind Soho Grand’s cocktail program, those of you unable to reach Gilligan’s on a regular basis are in luck. Here we present the recipe to create your very own watermelon margarita in the comforts of your own home, or wherever the nearest blender may be.
Gilligan’s Watermelon Margarita
Makes 4 servings
Ingredients:
- 6 oz. Blanco Tequila
- 2 oz. Combier Orange Liqueur
- 4 oz. fresh lime juice
- 2 to 3 oz. simple syrup (adjust for sweetness)
- 20 cubes of watermelon (roughly 1 in. across)
- 6 cups of ice
Directions:
Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until frozen. You can adjust the amount of ice to make it more or less frozen, and adjust amount of simple syrup to make it more or less sweet. Once blended, serve in mugs and garnish each with a slice of watermelon.
Gilligan’s is now open on weekdays from 3pm – 10pm and on weekends from 12pm – 11pm, with weekend brunch from noon. See you there!
